Navigating the Pre-Owned Market: Tips for Buying Your Next Used Truck

Navigating the Pre-Owned Market: Tips for Buying Your Next Used Truck Purchasing a used truck can be akin to discovering hidden treasures in a sprawling market; the gems are there, you just need to know how to find them. And where better to start your quest than in the heart of Fruitland Park, FL, at Phillips Buick GMC? As you embark on this journey, arm yourself with the essential knowledge and local insights to make the most of the pre-owned market. Discovering the Perfect Used Truck Navigating the realm of used trucks can be a journey filled with excitement and, sometimes, uncertainty. However, knowing what to search for can transform this expedition into a rewarding experience. Firstly, pay attention to the truck's mileage; lower might be preferable, but consider how those miles were accumulated—a gently driven highway mile differs from a hard-driven city mile. Check the vehicle's service history for consistent maintenance, ensuring it's been cared for over the years. Examine the truck for rust, especially in areas with a history of snow and salted roads. Delve into its ownership background; trucks with fewer previous owners often have a more straightforward history. Finally, always trust your gut feelings during a test drive; if something feels off, it might be worth a deeper investigation. Equipped with these guidelines, you'll be well on your way to securing a reliable and long-lasting used truck. Fun Fact: Did you know that in the early 20th century, trucks were often considered luxury vehicles, primarily owned by the wealthy? It wasn't until later on that they became the workhorses we know today! Key Considerations when buying Begin With Trustworthy Sources: If you're diving into the pre-owned market in Fruitland Park, it's pivotal to rely on reputable dealers like Phillips Buick GMC. Our dealership offers a vast pre-owned inventory, each vehicle vetted for quality and performance. Know Your Budget: Decide on a clear budget, considering not only the truck's price but also factors like insurance, taxes, and any upcoming maintenance costs. Research is King: Dive into the specific truck models you're interested in. Familiarize yourself with their general market values, common issues, and customer reviews. Localize Your Search: Considering Fruitland Park' topography and climate, you might prioritize trucks with robust air conditioning systems or those that fare well on the local roads, especially if you often pass by the scenic Lake Griffin. Check Vehicle History: For a comprehensive backstory of your chosen truck, always request a Vehicle History Report. This crucial document offers insights into previous accidents, ownership history, and maintenance records. Test Drive on Familiar Turf: Taking your prospective truck for a test drive is non-negotiable. Drive through familiar locales in Fruitland Park. Maybe cruise through the Historic Downtown area or pass by the shores of Fruitland Park. These familiar routes will give you a genuine feel for the truck's performance. Seek Third-Party Inspections: Even with a trusted dealer, it doesn't hurt to have an independent mechanic inspect your chosen truck. They might spot potential issues or provide reassurance about your choice. Understand Financing Options: If you're looking to finance your pre-owned truck, explore the diverse financing options available. It's also worth checking out any special offers or lease specials that might be running, ensuring you get the best bang for your buck. Negotiation is an Art Remember, the listed price is often just a starting point. Don't hesitate to negotiate, using the research you've conducted as leverage. Dealerships, especially ones rooted in the community like Phillips Buick GMC, value lasting relationships over short-term profits. Saving Money Tip: Don't be swayed solely by the initial price tag. Consider long-term costs such as potential repairs, parts replacements, and fuel efficiency. A truck that's slightly more expensive but in stellar condition might save you more in the long run. Even as you buy, think ahead. Trucks with a good reputation, minimal modifications, and consistent maintenance records tend to have higher resale values. In closing the journey. Finding a pre-owned truck can be both thrilling and daunting. However, armed with the right insights, your quest can lead to that perfect gem tailored for Fruitland Park' unique charm and challenges. Remember, buying a used truck is not just about finding a vehicle; it's about forging a bond that'll last for years. Let the scenic vistas of Fruitland Park be your backdrop as you navigate the pre-owned market, and may your journey with your newly acquired truck be as enchanting as a sunset view. Local Tip: After securing your truck, celebrate your smart purchase with a visit to Bok Tower Gardens or treat yourself to a meal at one of Fruitland Park' charming local eateries. Here's to new adventures on the open road!

Finance your Buick or GMC through Phillips Buick GMC and discover the plethora of tailored plans they offer. Some FAQs about Financing a Car: What is a good interest rate for a car loan? Interest rates can vary based on factors like your credit score, the lender, the duration of the loan, and current market conditions. Generally, those with excellent credit scores can expect lower interest rates. Can I get a car loan with a low credit score? Yes, many dealerships and lenders offer financing to individuals with low credit scores. However, the interest rates may be higher to offset the perceived risk. How long can I finance a car? Typical car loans range from 24 to 72 months. However, some lenders offer even longer terms. Remember, while longer terms may have smaller monthly payments, they often result in paying more interest over time. Is it better to finance a car through a dealership or a bank? Both options have their merits. Dealerships might offer promotional financing rates or incentives, especially on new models. Banks or credit unions, especially ones you have a relationship with, might offer competitive rates based on your creditworthiness. It's beneficial to compare offers from both sources. What's the difference between a lease and a car loan? A car loan involves borrowing money to purchase a car and paying it back, with interest, over a set period. At the end of the term, you own the car. A lease, on the other hand, is more like renting a car for a specific duration. At the end of the lease, you can either return the car, buy it, or lease another one. Be Transparent but Tactful in Negotiations Negotiations are a delicate dance. While it's essential to be upfront about any flaws your car might have, it’s equally vital to emphasize its strengths. Remember, at the end of the day, dealers want to make a sale as much as you want a great trade-in value. Stay Calm and Play Cool,Remember, you're not in a hurry. Even if you are, don't show it. A sense of urgency can weaken your negotiation stance. Take a deep breath, play it cool, and remind yourself that sometimes, walking away can lead to the best deals. And If a brand new car doesn’t align with your current goals, don’t Forget there is a Pre-owned inventory to consider at Phillips Buick GMC. A well-maintained, pre-owned car can often offer the best bang for your buck. Trading in your car is an art, an exercise in presentation, negotiation, and patience. But with the right approach and a tad bit of effort, you can ensure that your beloved ride fetches you a value that's just as precious. GMC's Legacy: The Evolution & Its Echo in Fruitland Park, FL

General Motors Truck Company, or GMC, has been a name synonymous with rugged reliability and American engineering excellence for over a century. From the dusty trails of early America to the paved avenues of modern cities like Fruitland Park, Florida, GMC's legacy has been about more than just building vehicles—it's about crafting machines that drive the human spirit forward. The Dawn of Durability: GMC's Early Years Expanded GMC's saga unfolded when the 20th century was just finding its pace, a time when the idea of personal transportation was blossoming. Roads were mere sketches on the land, rough and untamed, much like the frontier they cut across. In these nascent years of the 1900s, GMC emerged as a beacon of innovation, creating vehicles that weren’t just transport; they were pioneers on wheels, forging a path where none existed. HOW IMPORTANT ARE OIL CHANGES?

They say, “Hindsight is 20/20,” but where missing oil changes are concerned, it is more like 10W30.  Keeping up with an oil change schedule takes commitment and sometimes it is hard to tell if your efforts are effective.  There is also no immediate, tangible benefit at the outset and well into the late innings of ownership.  What can you do to motivate yourself and benefit from the single easiest thing you can do to extend the life of your engine, save fuel, and protect your car’s resale value? An excellent idea is to tie another more noticeable maintenance procedure to the oil change.  Rotate your tires on the same schedule as the oil changes.  Detail the inside or outside in conjunction with the oil changes. A consistent oil change regime maintains engine lubrication.  All the moving parts, pistons, valves, and other engine parts are moving at high rates of speed and the specific oil recommended by the manufacturer of your vehicle will protect these parts. When it comes to lubrication, smooth is fast and fast means heat.  Your engine will run cooler with quality, fresh oil lubricating all those precision-engineered parts. As engines are used, sludge can appear in time.  Regular oil changes can carry the sludge away before it can slow the oil flow in your engine and gum-up ports and parts. Promoting vehicle longevity and protecting resale value are two sides of the same coin that you do not have to flip to become a winner.  You can take this coin to the bank where you keep your peace of mind.  Make your appointment today at the Phillips Lightnin' Lube.

DETROIT — Today Buick revealed the 2024 Envista, a new nameplate designed to rethink what a premium vehicle can be in a white space of the small SUV segment. The Envista offers the cargo space and utility of an SUV, packaged inside sporty and sleek proportions typically found in a sedan. more “Buick helped define the small SUV segment in 2012, and we’ve continued to make our offerings even more competitive since. The all-new Envista is going to shake up that segment once again,” said Duncan Aldred, global vice president, Buick-GMC. “When you consider all the Envista has to offer, from its stunning design, standard technology and premium affordability, it’s going to be hard to find a better package in that area of the market.” The Envista will be one of the most affordable SUVs in the segment, yet it will still come standard with high-quality materials, design and technologies. Starting at $23,495 1, it is a premium crossover designed to attract migrating sedan owners, young professionals and small families to the Buick portfolio. The Envista will come in three distinct trims, each with their own unique personality: Preferred, Sport Touring (ST) and Avenir. This offering expands the popular, luxurious Avenir sub-brand across Buick’s entire portfolio. Sculptural beauty and new design The Envista will be the first vehicle to fully incorporate Buick’s new, modern design language, which was first shown to the world on the Wildcat EV concept last year. This includes the new face of Buick, featuring a low-profile silhouette and forward leaning nose. The new Buick emblem is now proudly mounted on the body, directly above a sleek, intricate grille design. This design cue is taken from heritage vehicles of Buick’s past. The body side of the vehicle encompasses sculptural beauty with powerful fender forms and a sculpted waistline that create the perception of fluid motion. Bright trim precisely incorporated around the glass adds to the vehicle’s expressiveness by catching and reflecting light at different angles. The headlamps and taillamps evolve Buick’s signature wing lighting with a thinner and more crisp form. LED checkmark lamps are mounted high on the fascia, while other functional lighting is lower on the body, creating a refined, layered look. 2024 Buick Envista Avenir close up of grille and headlight. Shown in Ocean Blue Metallic. “The Envista represents a pure expression of Buick design,” said Sharon Gauci, executive director, Global Buick-GMC Design. “This is not your average small SUV. With its unique proportions, modern stance and sleek form, the Envista takes Buick’s sculptural beauty to the next level.” In keeping with its sporty nature, all-black 18-inch wheels are standard on the ST trim, with 19-inch wheels available. Bespoke Pearl Nickel 19-inch wheels are standard on the Avenir, elevating its premium persona. Elevated interior, immersive technology Inside the Envista, customers will be surprised by the spaciousness and sense of lightness that flows throughout. Long windows flood the cabin with light, as material and technology advancements allowed designers to maximize interior cabin space. Enabled by the long wheelbase and efficient layout, the Envista offers the spaciousness and legroom often seen in much larger vehicles. It offers more legroom than any prior Buick small SUV. The Envista’s Ultrawide Infotainment Display encompass 19 diagonal inches of combined LCD screens that work together in harmony. This system is designed to inspire driver confidence with easy access to vehicle controls at their fingertips. Like the 2024 Encore GX, the Envista has an 11-inch-diagonal infotainment screen — the largest in the segment 2. The latest Buick infotainment system has been optimized to provide an enhanced user interface design, voice recognition and multimedia applications, making driver interaction easier and more intuitive. 2024 Buick Envista ST front cabin showing ST logo stitching with Ebony interior and Santorini Blue accents. Attention to detail is found throughout the interior, whether that be through crafted colorful stitching on the seats, or Avenir and ST logos embroidered on the head restraints of their respective trims. Even a flat-bottom steering wheel is standard across all trims, providing customers with a sporty and premium option not seen in this segment. All elements of the Envista’s interior design are carefully curated, down to even the smallest of touchpoints. The cabin experience is enhanced with Buick’s signature QuietTuning system, which helps prevent unwanted road noise from entering the cabin for a serene and more relaxed driving experience. Inspiring confidence, delivering comfort The 2024 Envista will come standard with the Buick Driver Confidence package 3. This package includes six active safety and driver assistance technologies such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, IntelliBeam auto high-beams and more. A high-definition Rear Vision Camera is also standard. The Envista will also offer available safety 3 and driver assistance technologies such as Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. A 40/60-split folding second row allows for storage of items up to 7.5 feet long (diagonally). The Envista provides 20.7 cubic feet of room behind the rear seat and 42 cubic feet 4 with the rear seats folded down. An available Power Liftgate allows customers to access their cargo area with ease. Spirited efficiency The Envista will offer a smart and efficient propulsion system that combines a high-performance 1.2L Turbo engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. This is expected to achieve 136 horsepower with 162 lb-ft of torque. The engine’s turbocharger allows it to reach peak torque much faster and maintain that for a longer RPM band, providing great responsiveness and a fun and engaging driving experience for customers. “Compared to previous generations of our 1.2L Turbo engine, this version is lighter and uses fewer parts, which reduces the overall vehicle weight, increases efficiency and creates nimble ride and handling,” said Scott McLane, lead development engineer, Buick Envista. A Watts Link suspension system is standard on the Avenir trim and available on ST, providing drivers with a level of sure-footedness and a more quiet and isolated ride experience. “An array of advanced chassis and suspension technologies contributes to the nimble and precise handling of the model,” said McLane. The Envista is expected to offer a GM-estimated 30 mpg 5 (combined). Premium package with an approachable price The 2024 Envista is expected to enter production next month and be available for customers this summer. TIPS FOR TRAVELLING WITH PETS

Remember when folks would drive down the road with their dog’s head sticking out of a window?  How about someone driving with the dog in their lap? These people love their pets, but it is not safe for the pet in one case… and the pet and everyone else driving by in the other example.  So, what is a safe way to drive around with a pet?  On long trips and short trips, it is possible to keep our furry friends safe. more There are a number of vehicle accessories you can purchase like belts, car seats, and carriers that will secure your pet and keep them comfortable.  Remember, your pet - be it a dog or a cat, needs room to turn around while riding in a pet carrier or similar enclosure. It is also good to remember these popular enclosures, if not restrained, will slide across the seat, annoy any other passengers and the pet will not be thrilled either. A small pet carrier might fit nicely behind one of the front seats and be secure in the footwell. But, not much of a view down there….so, if you won’t like it, Fluffy or Fido won’t either. One thing you can be certain of is that pets love fresh air just like people do, and you shouldn’t leave yours inside a parked car, even if just for a short errand. Temperatures can rise to dangerous levels quickly, especially in Florida, putting your pet at risk of heat stroke or brain damage. Many experts say, “Never leave your dog alone in a parked car. It is a safety concern at temperatures higher than 70°F or lower than 35°F.” However, in some states it is actually illegal and can result in a ticket. In other cases, a passersby may decide to break your window, if they think they are trapped inside. Long trips might require you take the pet’s medical records and licensing documents. This is especially true of our Canadian friends, travelling back south for the winter. And, make sure your pet is chipped or has a collar with a tag, in case you get separated during your journey. Many pet owners have a whole travel kit that includes favorite treats, water, food, medication, and toys. Bringing a little bit of home to strange places. Short or long trips with pets can be pleasant.  It just might take a little planning and preparation.
