Orders are in for the new 2022 GMC Hummer EV and drivers are waiting patiently to hear when they will be available. In the meantime, we're enjoying learning more about this one-of-a-kind vehicle. Sources are saying that the Hummer EV will use Fortnite's gaming platform: Epic's Unreal Engine. Where would a Hummer EV use a gaming platform? “Epic Games' Unreal Engine will power the electric truck's infotainment with its newly revealed human-machine interface.” - CNET.co/RoadShow. So, now we know there is a lot more behind the gaming industry than a bunch of X-Gens wearing their hats backwards and yelling, “Epic!” occasionally.  Gaming is big business with a ‘B’ as in billions.  It makes perfect sense that this type of technology finds its way into automobiles. What we know is that Epic announced that the new Hummer EV will be the first vehicle to use its Human-Machine-Interface, (HMI).  HMI, that’s right, initialism strikes again but get used to it because this is where the future will take us.  We have traveled from Pong and Centipede to HMI in a Hummer EV.  Cool. more An interface based upon the Unreal Engine will directly power the Hummer EV’s digital cockpit.  In addition, the new HMI supports the Qualcom Snapdragon automotive platform, but Epic Games is actively working to integrate Blackberry QNX and Mapbox for even greater support. I have no idea what I just said so, I went to the Blackberry website. It is safe to say that QNX is in the realm of autonomous vehicles. Think in terms of how the HMI will know where you are in relationship to other vehicles and obstacles. You should know what Epic said so here it is, “... the HMI is incredibly design driven and provides an incredible amount of flexibility for automakers, and even future owners... drivers can use downloadable content to totally change the interfaces and customize a digital cockpit to their liking.” The Unreal Engine is the world’s most open and advanced real-time 3D creation tool.  Continuously evolving to serve not only its original purpose as a state-of-the-art game engine.  Creators across industry platforms can deliver cutting-edge content, interactive experiences and immersive virtual worlds. Connectivity is about to take a giant leap.  When planning a trip, a navigation function that could construct a virtual world would be interesting.  Especially, if trip related industries could interject opportunities along the way.  Okay, I just was thinking aloud but let your imagination run with this and all vehicles may be Humming a different tune.

The original Hummer was an imposing vehicle with an enormous footprint.  There was no mistaking its military heritage and its thirst for fossil fuel.  Subtle?  The Hummer was not subtle, but it was fun. By now you have probably had a chance to see the new 2022 GMC Hummer EV during the televised introduction. That was fun too.  It also told us a lot about the GMC approach to electric vehicles.  Mainly, we learned that GMC does not make boring electric vehicles. You know what I am talking about.  Just think of the weird style employed by most all electric vehicles.  Compare the front fascia of that kind of vehicle to what GMC placed on television. The new 2022 Hummer EV has already sold out but we all knew it would.  The larger point lies in the GMC approach to all electric vehicles.  Clearly, style is important.  Which leads to the interior of the 2022 Hummer EV. more The new Hummer EV could have had the same lack-luster interior look of some other all electrics selling for around the same price.  That is not what happened.  The interior of the new Hummer maintains the ninety-degree angles of the original but in a refined way.  Minimalist is not a word you could apply to the 2022 GMC Hummer EV.  It is advanced design employed to make you feel at home with this vehicle. GMC designed the speaker grills to include a stylized map of the sea of Tranquility.  The place where Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon.  Another nice touch and tip of the hat to American technological achievement.  Which is what the Hummer EV happens to be a part of now. The future is coming into focus and thanks to GMC and vehicles like the Hummer EV, the future will be loaded with style.
