The new 2021 Buick Envision
2021 Buick Envision

The all-new 2021 Buick Envision will be arriving shortly.  Until then, there has been a fair amount of speculation regarding available trim levels and the like.  The trim question has a simple answer because there are only four trims: Envision, Preferred, Essence and Avenir.  FWD is standard on all trims with AWD available for the Preferred through Avenir trims.  When the 2021 Envision arrives in early 2021 you can expect that most of the models available will be in the top tree trims.

The Engine

Perhaps an interesting sidelight is the fact that the 2021 Buick Envision and the Cadillac XT4 share the same platform and engine.  The standard engine for the 2021 Envision will be the turbocharged 2.0L I-4 with 230-hp and 258 pound-feet of torque.  A smooth shifting 9-speed transmission will do the honor of completing the powertrain.  So, we can expect the 2021 Envision to be quick.

The Suspension

The suspension for the 2021 Buick Envision will be different.  All Envision models will come standard with a fully independent suspension, utilizing a MacPherson strut configuration in the front and a five-link, coil spring setup at the rear. Passive dampers will be standard at all four wheels.  As good as this sounds, there is a bit more because Continuously Variable Dampers will be offered on the Avenir trim.

Otherwise known as Continuous Damping Control or Continuous Variable Real-Time Damping, Continuously Variable Dampers is a type of active suspension technology that aims to deliver more premium ride qualities and better vehicle control. You could even think of it as a “light” version of GM’s world-renowned Magnetic Ride Control technology.

The Value

The kind of changes described here only add to the value of the new 2021 Buick Envision.  This already popular model is sure to be in demand more than ever.
